Lewis To SEC

Early last week, class of 2015 sharpshooter Tori Lewis of Olive Branch, Miss., made a verbal commitment to play her college basketball at Ole Miss for Matt Insell. Lewis is one of the better shooters in the class. She is a 5-foot-10 wing with the size and strength to make shots from deep. Her ability to shoot the ball from distance will give Insell and his staff a floor spacer and someone who can keep the defense honest whether they are playing against a zone or a man-to-man. With her commitment to Ole Miss, Lewis becomes the first member of the SEC school’s 2015 class. Look for Insell and his staff to be active adding pieces to join Lewis as they have as many six scholarships to give out to members of the class of 2015.

Koenen Picks The Heels

North Carolina added a shooter with size to its 2016 class when the Heels picked up 2016 wing Taylor Koenen of Savage, Minn., last week. Koenen will be asked to fill the shoes of current wing Megan Buckland as a perimeter shooter who can create spacing in the half court. Upon arriving on campus, Koenen, a 6-1 wing, will bring another dimension to Carolina’s roster as UNC will have a number of players on their roster who can create off the bounce and put pressure on the defense. Koenen is the second member of the class of 2016 to make a verbal pledge to Carolina as she joins 5-11 wing Jocelyn Jones of Richmond, Va., in the Tar Heels 2016 class.

Oregon Goes North Of The Border

Oregon landed its first 2015 commit in the Kelly Graves era when the Ducks secured a verbal commitment from Lauren Yearwood of Victoria, B.C. The 6-2 post has a strong skill set on the block and FIBA experience having played on both the U16 and U17 Canadian national teams the past two summers. The four-star post will provide length and a potential scoring threat for the Ducks after Jillian Alleyne graduates.

3-Star Wing Schulte to Tulane: Tulane picked up a verbal commitment from class of 2015 wing Meredith Schulte of Braselton, Ga. Schulte, a 6-0 perimeter shooter has the ability to get hot from downtown and has been known to go on shooting sprees from time-to-time. She is a strong kid who should be able to defend a couple positions for the Greenwave.

3-Star Post Effa to Southern Cal: USC added a post to its 2015 class with the addition of 6-2 Marguerite Effa of Los Angeles, Calif. Effa has a lot of upside and should be able improve and develop under Cynthia Cooper.

Vandals Find Gem:Taylor Pierce of Carlsbad, Calif., the 2015 sharp shooter from the Wiggins Waves club program, gave her verbal commitment to the Idaho Vandals. The 5-7 combo guards is one of the best shooters on the west coast and she should help Idaho remain one of the favorites in the WAC.

Miller To Santa Barbara: The Gauchos picked up a piece to its 2015 recruiting puzzle with 5-9 guard Coco Miller of Trabuco Canyon, Calif. The skilled guard saw her summer cut short recently when she suffered a torn anterior-cruciate ligament.

House To WCC:Megan House, the 6-3 post from San Juan Capistrano, Calif., gave her verbal commitment to Pepperdine recently. The three-star interior player will look to come in and replace the production of Tessa Emerson
