O’Brien can be found impacting the game in several ways. Her hustle and high energy allow her to get deflections, steals and blocks all over the defensive end. Although she may routinely be one of the smaller players on the court, that does not hinder her from making plays. Offensively the sophomore is a confident shooter from distance. Her compact release with a tight shooting pocket makes her a threat to stroke shots in consistently from behind the arc. Yet she is more than just a spot shooter. She is very adept at passing to her teammates or moving to the open space to create offense. There is an energy that O’Brien brings the court that is a function of her moving quickly, making quick decisions or passing quickly to an open player in scoring position. We would like to see O’Brien become more polished in attacking the lane with her weak hand and finish with her off hand in traffic. That would be a nice skill compliment to her already polished toolbox of skills.
