Meghan McQuade of Hayesville, N.C., has used her outside ability to score over 1,000 points in her high school career.

Vitals

Name: Meghan McQuade - Grad Year: 2014
Location: Hayesville, N.C. – School: Hayesville HS
Current Position: SG – Projected Position: SG

Strengths

McQuade is an intriguing prospect in that she can knock down the open jump shot and create off of the bounce as well. At 5-foot-6, she lacks prototypical size at the off guard position but is skilled enough to be effective there. McQuade hit the 3-pointer at a 42 percent clip during the 2012-13 high school season. She showed that skill well knocking down open shot opportunities during the Elite Basketball Academy Elite 100 Showcase last Sunday. On the defensive end, McQuade does a good job of being in position then using angles to anticipate the pass or dribble drive.

Area To Improve

McQuade will have to continue to work on her in-between game as she moves on to play in college. At her size, being able to make shots in the 12 to 17 foot range off of the move or off of the bounce will enhance her overall game. Also, we look for McQuade to continue to improve her foot speed as well in an effort to be an above average on ball defender versus quick guards.

The Bottom Line

Armed with a 3.9 GPA and over 1200 on the SAT, McQuade gets it done both on and off the hardwood. Her ability to do multiple things on the floor including knock down the jump shot makes her a prospect capable of playing at the next level.
