Strengths

McMahan has proven over the past year that she is as good a standstill shooter as any five sophomores in the state of Georgia. At 5-foot-9, she has good size as an off ball perimeter option and does a quality job of picking her spots to make the open 3-pointer. During a game in the PeachStateBasketball.com Spring Showdown, McMahan got rolling making multiple shots leading her Georgia Sting 2015 team to a victory.

A lot of players need a high volume of shots to be effective while McMahan shoots the basketball well enough that we could see her being a high 30 percent, low 40 percent shooter even with as few as six to eight shot attempts a game. In addition, she’s a wing capable of doing a lot of different things on the hardwood from finding the open teammate in traffic to getting her hand on the basketball defensively causing turnovers.

Area To Improve

While McMahan is an excellent shooter off the catch, it will be her ability to add a consistent one-dribble pull up jumper coming off of either hand to her game that helps elevate her game to another level. Adding that element to her game would make it that much harder for opposing defenders to chase her off the down screen or closeout hard on a ball reversal.

The Bottom Line

Blessed with a natural feel for the game coupled with a high basketball intelligence, McMahan appears to be poised for a breakout season on the club circuit. Her progression over the past 12 months gives colleges good reason to be excited about charting her play during the July evaluation period.
