Grissett to South Carolina

Grissett to South Carolina

South Carolina added its first verbal commitment in the 2017 class when 6-foot-2 wing Elisia Grissett of Durham, N.C., made a pledge to the SEC school.  Grissett had scholarship offers from a number of programs including, Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Wake Forest.

The addition of Grissett gives the Gamecocks an athletic wing who is emerging as one of the elite players in the 2017 class. Early in Grissett’s prep career she was an athlete who needed to attack the paint to be effective on the offensive end. As she continues to show more and more perimeter skills, her game is expanding, and she can impact the game in more ways. This spring she showed more range on her outside shot as well as the signs of being able to make plays for others.  Defensively, Grissett is a great fit for coach Dawn Staley as she is a ball-hawking defender with an elite wingspan.

Look for South Carolina to continue to be a major player in the 2017 recruiting world.  The Gamecocks will need to add at least a couple of more pieces across their frontline to protect them from the potential departures of Kaela Davis and Allisha Gray to the WNBA next season.
