King to Virginia Tech

King to Virginia Tech
Cayla King gives Virginia Tech a key building block

Tuesday was a big day for Virginia Tech coach Kenny Brook and his staff as 2019 combo guard Cayla King of Greensboro, North Carolina made a verbal pledge to play for the ACC school. King, who stands 5-foot-10 and is currently ranked as the No. 44 prospect in the ELITE 100 for 2019, is the highest rated prospect to commit to Virginia Tech in over a decade.

With the addition of King, Virginia Tech is getting a polished guard with elite size on the perimeter. Before a knee injury kept her out of club basketball this summer. King displayed a keen ability to make plays in the halfcourt, set up teammates with the pass, and find spots to score the ball on her own. As Virginia Tech makes the transition from the roster that Brooks inherited to the roster that Brooks will build, players like King could prove to be difference makers. Look for Brooks and his staff to remain active in the 2019 class as they continue to build for the future of the program.
