Nation News: Rich To Transfer

Morgan Rich, who was the No. 120 prospects in the 2015 ELITE 150, has decided to transfer from Kentucky.  The 5-foot-11 freshman guard left the program prior to the Wildcats first game of the season, November 8, an exhibition game against Union.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported Rich did not participate in Big Blue Madness on October 16, citing a UK spokesman’s statement she had not met certain program standards for practice.

"Rich is the size at the guard to play as a secondary ball handler but possesses the skill to serve as a primary ball handling option. After an ACL injury during her junior season of high school, she displayed flashes of her potential during her senior campaign. Rich is a talented backcourt prospect who when in shape and healthy is capable of playing 25 plus minutes nightly."

The decision by Rich comes a week after last year’s leading rebounder Linnae Harper decided to transfer.

The pace of elite players transferring is trending up in recent years.  Harper was fifth player from the high school graduating class of 2013 ranked in the top eight spots to transfer.  No. 2 Kaela Davis left Georgia Tech for South Carolina, No. 3 Diamond DeShields left North Carolina for Tennessee, No. 7 Allisha Gray left North Carolina for South Carolina, and No. 8 Jannah Tucker left Tennessee for Villanova.
