Recap: Cy-Fair Eval Camp Underclass

CYPRESS, Texas -- Coming off of a Nike Nationals title last summer, Cy-Fair Shock program director Al Coleman has built an evaluation camp rivaling any in the Greater Houston Area all year long. Here’s a look at three underclass prospects who stood out during the event.

Charli Collier (Crosby, Texas), Crosby Middle – 2018

Collier has quickly established herself as a prospect that we expect to hear a lot from over the course of her high school career. The 6-foot-4 center has not played a day of varsity basketball but has already made a verbal pledge to attend the University of Texas. In this evaluation, Collier played with the upperclass group and made an impact as arguably the most talented post, long term, in the gym. She has a build similar to current ELITE 60 junior Erin DeGrate and displayed the ball skill needed to be effective on the interior.

Chasity Patterson (Houston, Texas), Northshore HS – 2017

We came away from this same event last year impressed with the ultra quick point guard. This evaluation was no different as the 5-4 freshman made an impression again making shots from all over the floor when left open. She hit the 3-pointer, 17-footer and earned an invite to the Elite Basketball Academy Super 64 Camp in June as a result. Patterson will have a chance to show her game and prove her impact against some of the nation’s best this club season. She’s slated to play a significant role for Cy-Fair’s team this summer as a part of a veteran backcourt rotation that includes ELITE 60 member Lashann Higgs.

Deauzya Richards (Katy, Texas), Cy Ranch HS – 2017

Like Patterson, Richards will play for Cy-Fair’s junior team this summer. Her game is very different as she is a smooth 6-0 swing player on the perimeter. Her ball skill is continuing to round out but she showed a willingness to take the mid-range jump shot that did not exist this same time last year. Her game reminds us of current Auburn sophomore Hasina Muhammad as Richards is one of the best players that we’ve seen class wide playing in transition.
