SUWANEE, Ga. -- The Tip Off Classic Georgia hosted 120 teams from a variety of states during the NCAA evaluation weekend. Teams had the opportunity to show their talents in front of college coaches from all over the country. As always, championship Sunday proved to be very exciting. Here’s a look at some top performers.

TEAM OF THE DAY

Blue Star Florida Elite-Nuxol

When it comes to consistency that is exactly what you get from coach Sara Nuxol. She always has her teams ready to play and compete at a high level. Her team played well this weekend and advanced to the championship game to eventually take the title.

Aliyah Abney of Orlando, Fla., had a game-high 17 points, 12 of which were scored in the second half. The 5-foot-8 slashing point guard is quick off the floor and makes things happen by attacking the defense. This team is very solid at the guard position with Karina Garcia of Casselberry, Fla., Vernisha Andrews of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Armani Walker of Palm Coast, Fla. Each player brings a different attribute to the game.

Tamara Henshaw of Titusville, Fla., is a key factor on this team. The 6-1 small forward plays with great energy on both ends of the floor. Also providing an inside-out dimension to this team is Morgan Ackerman of Longwood, Fla. The physical 6-0 post player has good touch around the basket and can also knock down shots from beyond the arc. This talented team should have a good travel season.

PLAYER OF THE DAY

Justice Martin (Frankfort, Ky.), Louisville F.O.C.U.S. – 2016

It is always refreshing to witness a player continue to evolve and grow her talent. That’s exactly what Martin showed this weekend. The 6-0 power forward played well in the three-day tournament. She has solid footwork around the basket and has the ability to finish strong and score with contact. There are many things that she does well but the one that shines without a doubt is her drive and never say die attitude. As she continues to develop, you can be assured that she will draw a lot of attention from college coaches and her opponents alike.
