A Scouts Take: Alabama’s 2018 Class

During the first week of September, Alabama coach Kristy Curry and her staff added Four-star forward De’Sha Benjamin to their 2018 class. Benjamin, who has earned a reputation as a power wing who can make perimeter shots while also having the ability to play attacking the rim when in space, is the fifth member of the 2018 class to pledge to the SEC school. With four commitments, Alabama’s 2018 class is shaping up to be a strong one. Here is “A scouts take” for Alabama’s 2018 class.

Benjamin has the potential to be a key offensive piece for the SEC program. She is a versatile offensive player who has a foundation of skills that have proven to be successful in that league. When you look at Benjamin’s offensive tools, players like Tennessee’s Jamie Nared and Mississippi State’s Victoria Vivians come to mind as players she should model her game after.

Abrams will give Alabama athleticism at both guard positions. She is a left handed guard who has the ability to grow and develop into a contributor in many different areas. Abrams will excel when attacking the rim off the bounce and has the potential to be an impact perimeter defender.

Cruce is a player who will give Alabama a different look on the perimeter. She can be used as a face-up four or as a wing. It will be important for her to be a consistent perimeter shooting option so she can stretch the floor and keep defenses honest.
