Moses Chooses Virginia

Lauren Moses of Mount Holly, N.J., a 6-foot-2 forward, chose Virginia last week, giving the Cavaliers an ELITE 100 level interior player to start off their 2014 class. Coach Joanne Boyle and her staff brought in a top 10 2013 recruiting class headlined by top 60 recruits in the ELITE 100 Breyana Mason of Woodbridge, Va., and Sydney Umeri of Acworth, Ga. Moses presence will bring them a traditional back-to-basket forward with the skill to face the basket and be effective as well. She’s a nice foundation piece as Boyle and her staff look to repeat last year’s success on the trail.

Though Moses might not be an elite level athlete, the four-star post player brings a smooth, methodical flow to the interior that few nationwide can match. Her workmanlike attitude to the game runs in the family. Her brother, Dezman, attended Tulane and now plays linebacker in the National Football League for the Green Bay Packers. Moses considered Florida, Michigan, St. Joseph’s and Virginia Tech amongst others taking visits to all but Florida before making her final decision.

Rock, Chalk, Aldridge

In the midwest, 2014 graduate Lauren Aldridge of Marshfield, Mo., picked Kansas this weekend after visiting Lawrence for a Big-X12 matchup Oklahoma State. Though the Jayhawks lost a close one, they won the recruiting battle for Aldridge as she decided to close down her recruiting afterwards. We saw the 5-7 point guard at an event in Kansas City last summer. She’s a nice early pickup for Bonnie Henrickson and her staff as they identified the point position as a necessity in this class. Aldridge brings a steady hand to the position along with the ability to consistently stick the open jumper. The four-star perimeter prospect will have plenty of chances to face off with the nation’s elite players this club season as her game will be on display with the Missouri Phenom this summer.
